Norah Jones 1979年出生于纽约 (4岁和母亲迁居至德州，求学过程都在德洲)，15岁进入「干净灵魂美声」艾瑞卡巴度母校Booker T. Washington中学主修表演及视觉艺术，从此与爵士乐结下不解之缘。在连续获得Down Beat学生音乐奖96年及97年「最佳爵士歌手」音乐奖后，99年夏天，她趁着暑假前往纽约，立刻爱上曼哈顿活力充沛的音乐环境。2000年秋，签入Blue Note，成为Blue Note音乐大厂中最年轻的爵士女伶。
